Membership Covenant
Having been brought by divine grace to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ for the
forgiveness of our sins, and having been baptized upon our profession of faith, in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, we do now, solemnly and
joyfully, affirm our covenant with one another. Relying on the enabling of the Holy
Spirit, in obedience to the command of God, we willingly consent to walk together as a
church, according to the appointment of Christ.
We will work and pray for the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. We will exercise
an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other; faithfully admonishing and
entreating one another in brotherly love as occasion may require. We will rejoice at
each other’s happiness and endeavor with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s
burdens and sorrows.
We will, therefore, not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, nor neglect to pray
for ourselves and others. We will work together for the continuance of the ministry of
this church, and the promotion of its worship, ordinances, discipline and doctrines. As
good stewards of God’s varied grace, we will minister our gifts to one another, serving
by the strength God supplies. As the Lord may prosper us, we will contribute cheerfully
and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the
poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.
We engage to do all these things, seeing that they are prescribed by God in His Word,
and required of all believers in the world.
If ever, therefore, that we move from this
place, we will as soon as possible, unite with some other church, where we can carry out
the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word. May the grace of the Lord
Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.
Amen.
